2001 toyota corolla tail lights and dash light not working? I have a 2001 toyota corolla and my tail lights and dash lights are not working. I have replaced the fuse and it worked for about 10 minutes now it just keeps blowing the fuse. I have looked at all my fuses and it just keeps blowing that one fuse....what does this mean i have been told that it sounds like there is a wire grounded somewhere but i don't know what to look for. If you have any idea what i can do to fix this please help me!
unplugged-Pro-Peace replied: "if it keeps blowing fuses, that means there is a short somewhere in your electrical system. bring it to a shop that does electrical repairs. and tell them everything that you wrote in your question."
accesscard replied: "Check in the trunk on the left hand side, see if the wires broke. You need to take the tape off to see. This is a common problem with Toyota's"
Does anyone know how to install new tail lights on a 2007 toyota corolla without using new bulbs? I was looking at a couple of different new tail lights for my corolla (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-07-TOYOTA-COROLLA-ALTEZZA-TAIL-LIGHTS-TYC-04-05-06_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ006QQitemZ160157192607QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) and I was wondering if anyone knew how install these. Is it possible to simple take off the light covers and put new ones on are am I going to have to work with the bulbs and wiring and stuff?
Aussie Bloke replied: "These aren't just lenses - they are the whole light assembly. To change the lights, the whole light assembly must come out - they are sealed at the factory to stop water from getting in and shorting out your lights.
Just unplug the wires (with the lights still attached) from inside the trunk, and unbolt the lights (also from the inside.) Then reverse the proceedure with the new lights. The bulbs usually don't even have to be removed from the wires - just from the lights themselves. The wiring and bulbs will probably fit right into the new lights without making changes to either.
Good luck!"
Huba replied: "This ad states that wiring and bulbs are included so it appears you can not use the existing ones."
Tail Light/ Parking Light Toyota 1989 Corolla stays on? I drive a 1989 Toyota Corolla. I changed the rear brake light bulb 2 days ago and the fuse for that light and it was fine.
Today, the rear light wont turn off. When I brake, the light is on yet the brake light does not light up. Even if the car is off and I am parked and all the light turned off that rear light is on. I do not want to kill the battery so I actually take out the bulbs since it’s the only way to have the light offs. Please let me know what you think? Thanks!
not 2 B fooled replied: "remove the bulb and reinsert the opposite way - there are two small "dots" on the side of the bulb, one closer to the filament and the other further away, the bulb may just be in the wrong way (look inside the socket to see which slot for the dot is higher than the other)"
johnny replied: "sounds like it is your break light switch/sensor behind the brake padel has gone bad replace it and it will go off if it was bad had that problem with a few cars i have owned"
Michael replied: "Myself and my friend had '87 and an 88 corolla that had the same problem and we resolved it by adjusting the brake light switch under the pedal. some are adjustable in older models."
Miller L replied: "they are all very good answers also if you have an aftermarket alarm system the relay in the module could be stuck in the on position seen it before good luck"
89 Toyota Corolla Tail Lights Stuck On? I have an 89 Toyota Corolla. I got out of my car last night and shut the headlights off but the tail lights won't go off. The only way I could get them to go off was to take out the fuse. I tried to put a new one in but that didn't work either. Even tried to disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Any suggestions?
Satan replied: "look beneath the dash above the brake pedal at the brake light switch. sounds like its stuck. try manipulating it by hand and if that does'nt work, replace it"
Rob replied: "sometimes what happens with your car is there is a little rubber piece that the brake light switch pushes up against, what happens is that little rubber piece falls out and just leaves a little hole so now theirs no place for the switch to push up against . you can put a little piece of something in their to make it work."
KILROY replied: "There is a brake light switch above the brake pedal. Either it is disconnected or broken. Either way you need to replace it.
On some vehicles the switch is screwed on, and you will need to count the number of turns to take it off, then put the new one back on the same number of turns to give it the proper clearance to work. You will also need to verify the piece that the switch pushes against is still in it's hole, could be rubber, and missing. If so, then all you need to do is replace it."
Anyone know how to fix the passengers side tail light of a '06 toyota corolla?(I replaced bulbs.still no luck) Hi experts.
Recently the passenger side tail light of my 2006 toyota corolla LE stopped functioning completely. The brake light, blinker and reverse lights do not illuminate at all. I don't know much about cars or electronics but I'm sensing this might have something to do with a fuse of some kind.
Does anyone know of things I could try myself before giving into the repair mechanic?
Thanks so much for your help.

Z R replied: "Try replacing the fuse."
Hondu replied: "It is hard to tell if you mean all of the lights that don't work are on one side or not. Normally the tail, turn signal, brake, and backup lights are all fused separately but both sides of the car are on one fuse. If all of the lights in one housing don't work you have a wiring problem. Wires disconnected or maybe the housing isn't grounded. If you are saying that the only bulb that works is the left tail light then you probably have one bad tail light bulb and several bad fuses. Whew!
Good luck."
Chad F replied: "I would not look at a fuse, there are more than one fuses that controll all the lights, if it was a fuse both sides woulod be out.
Check behind the light there is a plug that has all teh wires to the light, if it has come loose or a bad ground there it can cause the whole light to be out"
yoursecretcarguy replied: "how many miles on this car if you repaced bulb (if you did it right) and still dosent work then something else is wrong however if this car has less than 36,000 miles then it still has a full bumper to bumper warenty take it to a toyota dealer they should fix it for free or just charge you for light."
I have a 1978 toyota corolla SE. When I turn on my lights both eliments in tail light bulb light up. ? When I apply the brakes both of the elements in the brake light bulb light up. One Element is for the brakes the other is for the tail lights. What could the problem be?
Michael B replied: "First it could be the bulbs are bad and once you change them and it still does it maybe a wiring short"
Scott M replied: "It could be a couple of things. First thing I would look for would be a ground problem. Check the wiring and ensure you have a proper ground. If everything checks out find I would guess you have a bad headlight switch."
Tail lights on a 1997 Toyota Corolla burn out after replacement.? Tail light lamps were just replaced and blew out immediately when they were turned on. Brake, turn and hazard all work. Instrument lights do not.
toyodave replied: "Those vehicles had weak wiring harnesses to the rear lights. Remove the bulbs and look down in the sockets. If the metal for the contacts have mushroomed at all, they can touch the other side, and when the lights come on it blows a fuse, which is exactly what you are describing. Also, make sure that the bulbs are all the correct ones: if the socket has 2 contacts (three wires) the bulb must be a dual filament also, with two bumps on the bottom. If you have a single filament bulb in a dual socket, the fuse will blow. If the socket only has one bump on the bottom, two wires, then the bulb must match, also.
Good luck and God Bless!"
eseclumzy replied: "You should make sure you are using the right bulbs first and then maybe check your wiring and fuses. I suggest you take it to a dealer or some one with experience."
