install leveling kit on 1997 dodge ram 2wd? is it dificult to install a leveling kit on a dodge 2wd, because ive seen it done on a 4wd and it looked easy but the springs are placed differently on a 2wd. so is it something you can easily do at home or do you need a pro to install it?

moparmandan replied: "The leveling kits are typically for a 4x4. 2wd is a different suspension entirely. My opinion? Lower the back with some drop shackles. I would guess w/o measuring YOUR truck, that 1 1/2-2in is probably whats req'd. The little lift in the back is normal to compensate for some load, and still drive acceptably.~Dan"

What is a Leveling kit for a dodge ram? ? I have heard of people getting there dodge rams to sit level with something called a leveling kit. who makes this kits and i guess how do they work. any information on these would be great. i drive a 2wd dodge ram and i just want it to sit straight. and from what i have found these kits aren't to terribly expensive. would i be able to install it myself? any info and links would be great. sco929 replied: "It picks up the front end to be somewhat eye level w/ the rear. More for cosmetics, or to prevent wheel well rub from after market tires/rims. The truck manufactorers produce the rear higher so when people load their beds w/ weight is compresses the rear suspension and that will in effect level the vehicle"

walterds replied: "Leveling kits are normally used to level a truck / SUV with a trailer. The best ones link the truck frame to the trailer frame making a safer rig. Another variation allows the user to easily add / remove air from bladders in the rear springs resulting in raised / lowered backend. If you simply want to level the truck without a trailer then the second option is going to work."

Mike B replied: "Since it's a 2WD don't lift it in the front, lower it in the back. Get belltech leaf springs and it will sit even and ride perfect. It will handle worse if you lift it because of the higher center of gravity. Lower is the way to go with a 2wd. Good luck."

Nathan M replied: "Are you saying you are getting a body lift and are curious as to how it will work with your leveling kit.Your question is not entirely clear but I'll try. A leveling kit it is a spacer that gets put under your front coils most of the time. If you are adding a body lift to a vehicle that already has a leveling kit it will simply install and lift the body away from the chassis. And your ride angle will be the same as before."

1996 dodge ram 5.2 shortbed 2wd 2 inch level kit would it be bad to put on a spacer level kit?? i would like my truck to be level from front to rear and was thinking are spacers hard to install?here is the one I want also am i going to need anything with this kit?
