What would it cost to rig my 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 with a snow plow (hopefully used?).? I've had the truck as a spare vehicle for years, and would love to put a plow, just for my relatively small driveway and maybe a few neighbors - nothing for doing entire parking lots or roads. Besides the blade, how much will the rest of the rigging cost (controls, lights, connecting to the truck, etc?). I'm looking for doing this somewhere in the $500 range - is this crazy? Thanks!

dodge man replied: "we done one and it cost around 3500 to get all the parts needed to do it with,we found most of it on e-bay ,used but still in good condition,we did have to buy a new pump which set us back around 400 bucks, you might find a good used complete set up for around 3500 right now,its a bad time to buy those now,we did this one back in the summer when they was cheap, anyone who has one now will add an extra 500 on to it just because its winter time, good luck"

85 dodge 4x4 2500 ram 360 Torqueflite.has a snow plow. tranny leaks when hot? Ok friend of mine just bought this truck and drove it about 80 miles home. he plowed for about 10 minutes and tranny fluid started running out between the tranny and motor.Stop and it quit leaking drove it home no leak. topped off the tranny and tried plowing again and about 5-10 minutes it starts puking out tranny fluid again. drive it down the road and its fine start to plow and it leaks BAD. anythought ? thanks

I recently bought a new 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty. It has some pretty narrow tires on it I think.? They are LT245 70 17R on and off road tires. I was wondering if I could go up to an 18 inch rim and wider tire like a 265? I just think these small tires look kinda silly on such a big truck. I think the dealer was just talking saying since this was called the Snow Chief that those are the best size for snow plowing. I doubt it but I will be plowing next year. It is equipped for snow plowing just need the plow on. If I should go up or stay the same for plowing help or advice would be greatly appreciated. God Bless and Peace out......

Chuck M replied: "NICE TRUCK! I want a Ram, thats the #1 truck you can buy. But to answer this question...get bigger/wider rims and you can get bigger tires. My friend has a new Ram and thats what he did."

dodge man replied: "it will work out a lot better if you,ll change the rim size also,i had a set of those on e-bay and sold them i tried a larger set and didn't like the ride, but to make that work out better you can change the rim size also, here's a web site with some on it and they also have the best prices of anyone i know of on rims, good luck,,http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/page.cfm"

atvman_400 replied: "I believe you can safely fit LT285 70 R17 on it. I wouldn't go up to an 18 inch wheel though. Keep the stock rims and just throw on bigger tires. I recommend BFGoodrich All Terrain KO tires. They last a long time and get excellent grip on a variety of terrain, including pavement."

RSR replied: "33x12.50s will fit stock and so will 35x12.50s but if you end up going with 35s you will hear a little rubbing when you turn the wheel all the way to make a sharp turn."

Nigel M replied: "For plowing, the narrower tires will work better. You might even want to consider LT235/75R17. For summer use, you may want to get something different for looks."
