I am looking for a price on a 1954 hood ornament (pontiac) called Indian Chief, It's made of resin and metal. This hood ornament is in the shape of and airplaine flying, with the head of the Indian Chief in bright orange resin at the front of the plane looking like it's on fire as it rises to the sky. Please give me any information you can on it as to it's background, are they rare now?, etc.

what view did chief pontiac have on the war? chieff pontiac is an indian the war was the one with england and the american colonies against the french

Jess replied: "He fought against the British in Pontiacs Rebellion, but then later came to embrace the new white men as his friends, due to the fact that they gave him more power than he really had over his Native brethren. This power, that white men gave him, led to his murder, by his own people."

torskie replied: "Chief Pontiac's view was to buy more Chevys... seriously: Pontiac, like other Indian leaders, was unhappy with the new British policies. Taking advantage of this dissatisfaction, as well as a religious revival inspired by a Delaware (Lenape) prophet named Neolin, Pontiac planned a resistance. He hoped to drive British soldiers and settlers away, and to revive the valued French and Indian alliance. On April 27, 1763, he held a large council about 10 miles below Fort Detroit. The location of this historic meeting is now Council Point Park, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, and a small plaque exists to commemorate the event. Pontiac's words, as recorded by a French chronicler, were a call to arms: It is important for us, my brothers, that we exterminate from our lands this nation which seeks only to destroy us. You see as well as I that we can no longer supply our needs, as we have done from our brothers, the French.... From all this you can see well that they are seeking our ruin. Therefore, my brothers, we must all swear their destruction and wait no longer. Nothing prevents us; they are few in numbers, and we can accomplish it.[3]"

When can we get rid of Black History Month? Before you spazz out, I mean when can we actually put in the hispanic, black, indian, & asian perspectives in our history books? Last book I checked from my younger cousins they told the entire history of their state/country & decided to forget about the last 4 groups! No one asks about Phyllis Wheatley with literature, Benjamin Banneker for Architecture, Pontiac indian chief, the dakotahs or Julio cesar Chavez union organizer. We wouldn't be so darn separate or annoyed when you tried to get in on our subculture if this was normalized.

Felix replied: "First get rid of black history"

Me replied: "when there is no more history in the world"

trumpetpuppy68@yahoo.com replied: "It's a good thing, be proud of it"

junej replied: "And Bush went over to Iraq to tell them how to live with each other. Go figure"

itlonda replied: "Just ignore it. When someone brings it up; groan and roll your eyes. Boast about seeing 'Birth of a Nation' at work. Recommend it to others. Boycott watermelon and call in sick during "diversity" training that excludes European culture."

2much replied: "okay why don't you create this book of many cultures and their great history and success and appear on Oprah when she name you as one of her favorite books and watch out world as we embrace all cultures."

Wash, rinse, and repeat. replied: "Are you talking about a ethnic history month? I have no problem with black history but learning about other ethnic groups would be okay with me."

豆腐さん replied: "I'm with you! Black History Month is a joke!"

Grendel replied: "I'm going to assume you won't pull your question once I submit my answer. A quote by Carter G. Woodson (who initiated Black History Week): "We should emphasize not NEGRO HISTORY but the NEGRO IN HISTORY. What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world VOID OF NATIONAL BIAS, RACE HATE AND RELIGIOUS PREJUDICE." Benjamin Banneker was black. I'm not going to be politically correct for it will diffuse my point. If you take the quote seriously, you will see that the history of negroes, coloreds, black folk intersects, runs parrallel, and superimposes itself on the history of other peoples. Unfortunately, too many people use the vantage point of slavery to illustrate the above statement. If you are genuinely interested in broadening historic cultural awareness, I suggest you ADD not SUBTRACT."
